We are excited to introduce our team lead software development, Joost! He has joined KRANENDONK five years ago. We asked him to share some insights into his day-to-day activities. Find out what inspired Joost to pursue his current career and what he enjoys doing outside of work below!
The software development team develops the ARAC software platform, which is used to control all the systems we make at KRANENDONK. As team lead software development, I’m responsible for planning the features that need to be built for our customer projects. We work according to Scrum in two-week sprints and I make sure that all the backlog items are worked out and prioritized, so that each team member knows exactly what to do.
When time permits, I like programming myself using C#, .NET and WPF. There aren’t so many companies where those can be combined. KRANENDONK lets me use the latest tools and techniques and apply them to robots, PLCs and other high-tech devices.
The software development team consists of four developers with many years of experience. We all work on the same product, so it’s easy to work together and help each other out. During lunch we usually go for a short walk outside.
All our projects are multidisciplinary, so they make teamwork crucial. Working with members of other departments is not only necessary, but also very fun. You learn from each other as you work together, which makes teamwork more efficient as you go.
My family is my primary focus outside of work. I have two kids who participate in sports such as soccer and hockey. Our time together is always enjoyable, whether we play sports, cook our favorite meals, or walk the dog.
Sports have always been a favorite pastime in our family. With an average score of 190, I'm also a pretty decent bowler. During the evenings, I like to watch a series or a movie, or I play on my PlayStation 5.
Our team is always looking for new talent. So, whether you’re a software developer, robot engineer or sales manager, we want to hear from you! Check out our vacancies for opportunities to join our team!
